Colubrids - Great Snakes For Beginners
Colubrids are great beginner to intermediate snakes. They are
the easiest snakes to handle because they don’t grow too large
and many of these snakes never bite. They come in many different
types and colors and patterns. Each snake has it’s own
personality so it is difficult to say which of these snakes will
be the best for you.
Here, in this section, are many different
types of snakes for you to choose from. Most of these snakes are
very easy to care for and require very little maintenance. For most of these snakes, all they need
is a suitable enclosure, water, and some sort of heat source. Most of the colubrids types of snakes require a temperature of around
75-85 degrees F, but see each snakes care sheet for specifics.
The Corn (red rat) Snake.
The Corn Snake is one of most common pet snakes.
It comes in many different colors and patterns. This snake
usually grows to a length of between 4 and 5 ft. This snake
requires temperatures at around 82 degrees F.

The Milk Snake or King Snake
The Milk snake or King Snake is another snake that requires very
little maintenance to own. Like the Corn Snake they both, come
in many different colors, and color patterns, but unlike the
corn snake these snakes generally have a blunter head. These are
awesome snakes that usually don’t grow longer than 4 ft. and
only need temperatures around 82 degrees.
